Belgian Chocolate Ratings
These are the official rating results from our sampling of Gent's chocolates!
The Chocolate Ratings
In search of authentic Belgian chocolate, we visited two different chocolate shops during our last day in Gent. The first was the Deduytschaever Chocolatier and the second was the Vandenbouhede Chocolatier.
Over the next week, we painstakingly tested and ranked the various chocolates through a grueling review process. The below figure represents the culmination of our research:
Lessons Learned:
- Overall, the Deduytschaever Chocolatier seemed to fare better in the rankings.
- Although Jacob and I both enjoy flowery flavors (lavender, rose, etc.) it was often the more traditional flavors (e.g. caramel, coconut) that ranked the highest for us.
- While the majority of the chocolate was delicious, we did not find that these Belgian chocolates had a significant increase in tastiness level versus other high-caliber chocolates from other countries of origin.
- We have concluded that lime flavor does not belong in chocolate.
