Arrival on July 23rd
We started with some gorgeous views of the Swiss countryside out of the airplane window. It was a hint at the absolutely insane beauty that was still to come.
We got here decently early, and got set up at our hotel: Hotel Ruby Mimi. Holy crap this was such a nice hotel for the price! Super beautiful, and they have a nice bluetooth speaker in the room to blast your music. Genuinely loved that.
We got a nice walk around the city that night, too! It is one of the cleanest major cities that I’ve ever seen. And the clock towers were so magnificent – also a sign of what was to come.
Wandering the city in the evening
The food here (and basically everywhere in Switzerland) was absolutely phenomenal. You could absolutely tell that the ingredients were high-quality in this country.
Of course, the food prices were also phenomenal…ly expensive. We were floored by how much it costs for a simple dinner!
If you know me, you probably know that I f’ing love public transit, so Zurich was a dream. The trams here were *chef’s kiss* 🤌 wonderful.
July 24th
We had some time to kill in the morning before our train, so we did more walking around the city. The lake here was so pretty! And the mountains in the distance were just a cherry on top.
We did end up getting poured on in a crazy pop-up rainstorm, but it only lasted like 5 minutes, then it was sunny again. Crazy weather here.
Returning on July 28th
… OK so now this is the end of our Switzerland trip, we’re back in Zurich for one more night before catching the flight out. Sorry for the weird jump, but it’s just easier this way :D
Long story short, we stayed at a really interesting mini-hotel (hostel?) above a bar, which was in an awesome part of town. Highly recommend checking out the Langstrasse neighborhood if you want to get away from the slightly-more-touristy downtown area. We stayed at Hotel Fur Dich, which is part of the cafe/bar with the same name.
